Cedartown was nearly demolished during the Civil War but was defended by a ragtag group of 'calvary' toward the end of the war and ultimately destroyed by Union forces. By the late 1870s, Cedartown was once again prospering. Today, Cedartown is conveniently located close to a major metropolitan area. This enables the residents to enjoy all of the benefits of a large city while maintaining a small town lifestyle.
